"Political Q&As", A Formal Letter by Ilyas Kusa to the Director of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC Arabic), October 1960
Addressed by Ilyas Kusa to the Director of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC Arabic) on 26 October 1960, this formal letter discusses the questions raised by political experts regarding whether or not Jordan's King Abdullah held negotiations with Israel. Kusa believes that Jordan did hold negotiations with Israel in 1960 on the condition of joining Arab areas in Jerusalem with Jordan, allocating a passage for Jordan leading to the Mediterranean sea, which includes Bir as-Sabeʿ and Gaza; allotting the Jerusalem-Bethlehem route to Jordan; granting Jordan free port privileges in Haifa in exchange for Israel having a free port in Aqaba and access to potash factories at the Mediterranean beach. However, the aforesaid conditions were rejected by Israel.
