A Section of the Wall of the Occupied City of Acre in the 1990s
This photograph shows a section of the wall of the occupied city of Acre, which is one of the most important, oldest and largest walls in history. The ruler of Galilee, Zahir Al-Omar Al-Zaydani rebuilt the wall in 1750 prior to the French invasion of Acre, and after it was damaged, the governor of Sidon and the Sham, Ahmed Pasha al-Jazzar, rebuilt and fortified it with watchtowers, and that is why the city walls became known as the walls of al-Jazzar, the wall also includes huge artillery anchors, as the number of cannons installed on the wall at a time reached (250), and nine watchtowers, including the al-Kareem, Iron, Sanjak, Kabo, Flies, Sultan and Commander.
