A Letter from the Patriarch of the City of Jerusalem to the Priests in Beit Jala, 10 January 1868
Handwritten on 10 January 1868, this document shows a letter from the Patriarch of the City of Jerusalem and Palestine to the Priests of Beit Jala and Deputy of the Orthodox-Roman Church in Beit Jala and they are; Pastor Yacoub, Pastor Ishaq Touma, the sons of Instructor Odeh and Deputy of the Church in addition to all citizens of Beit Jala from the Roman Orthodox. In this letter, the patriarch replies to a petition sent by those mentioned to himself seeking the recruitment of a teacher for the School of Beit Jala, confirming the absence of an adequate teacher to assign permanently at the school in the meantime, however, the Instructor Ibrahim Elia Abdullah is to be hired for seven months until a new teacher is found for a full-time job, in the same context, the sender requested from the receivers of the letter to collaborate with the teacher who is coming to teach at the school.
