Assaf al-Burqini and Others, 1950
Taken in 1950, this photograph shows Zajjal Assaf Taher al-Burqini from Burqin in Jenin with others, as he began singing and writing Zajal before he was 10 years old and he is one of the poets on demand during weddings because he never charged the people of his village for his performances. His Zajal was famous during national occasions which rushed through the Palestinian arena due to the hugeness of events under the British Mandate and the Jordanian rule.
