A visual artist born in Birzeit in 1947, Sliman Mansour is one of the most prominent contemporary Palestinian artists. He contributed to developing the infrastructure for fine arts in Palestine and uses local materials in his work, such as clay, henna, and straw. His artworks have been widely exhibited in Palestine, the Arab world, Europe, Korea, Japan, and the United States. He is one of the founders of the "New Visions" group, established in 1989, whose members boycotted Israeli products and instead used local materials in the production of their works. His series "I Am Ismail" received the Grand Nile Prize at the 7th Cairo Biennale, as well as the Palestinian Award for Visual Arts, in addition to numerous local, Arab, and international awards. His painting "Camel of Hardships" is considered one of the most iconic symbolic artworks in the Arab world.
