BIOGRAPHY

An artist born in Jabalia refugee camp in Gaza in 1959, Tayseer Barakat holds a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from Helwan University in Cairo. He works across various media and experiments with different materials such as wood, metal, and glass. His works are characterised by their engagement with the artistic heritage of the region and its ancient influences. Barakat’s art has been widely exhibited in Palestine, the Arab world, Europe, and the United States. He is one of the founders of the "New Visions" group, established in 1989, whose members boycotted Israeli products and used local materials in the creation of their works.
