Ahmad Rami comes from the al-Shawwa family, one of the well-known Gazan families who were land and orchard owners in the Gaza Strip. Members of the family played an active role in the political and social life of the city. He later migrated to Kuwait, where he worked in the oil sector, then moved to Amman, and from there to Canada.
