BIOGRAPHY

Ibrahim al-Dakkak was born in Jerusalem in 1929, He joined Rawdat al-Maarif al-Wataniyya College, completing his high school studies. He obtained his Matriculation Certificate in 1947 and studied engineering. Following his graduation, he supervised the construction of at-Tira College for Girls in Ramallah and the Jordanian Shobak School, and was one of the founders of the Palestinian National Front. He co-founded a large group of Palestinian civil society institutions, such as the Higher Education Council and the Arab Intellectual Forum, which he chaired from 1978 to 1992. He also chaired the Board of Trustees of Birzeit University in 1973 and served as the founding director of the Makassed Charitable Association Hospital in Jerusalem. He undertook the task of rebuilding the al-Aqsa Mosque after it was set on fire in 1969. In 2002, he launched the Palestinian National Initiative- Mubadara with Mustafa Barghouti and Haidar Abdel-Shafi.

DESCRIPTION

The Ibrahim al-Dakkak Collection includes photographs of him in various positions and others documenting attacks of the Israeli Occupation. It also encompasses many documents related to his national political and field achievements, such as letters from the Islamic Endowments (Awqaf) Department, various newspaper clippings, speeches and political statements.
