Ibrahim Shamshoum was born in Arrabat al-Battuf in the Galilee. He was the first secretary of the Palestinian Communist Party. He became acquainted with Abd al-Qadir al-Husseini through the owner of a café he used to work for in al-Maskoubiya in Jerusalem. He engaged in the Communist Party's political and social activities.

The Ibrahim Shamshoum Collection is a family archival collection that captures overlaps between social life and political activities through photos of members of the Palestinian Communist Party and the Shamshoum family.
