Siham Barghothi was born in Hebron in 1948. She engaged in voluntary action and joined ranks of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) in 1975, before becoming a member of DFLP Central Committee. The Israeli Occupation prevented her from travelling for ten years and placed her under house arrest from 1980 to 1982, before arresting her in 1982 and placing her under detention for two and a half years. She defected from DFLP and co-founded the Palestinian Democratic Union-FIDA in 1990. She also held the position of Palestinian Minister of Culture from 2009 to 2013.

The Siham Barghothi Collection encompasses several photographs and documents related to Sihman Barghothi's personal and professional life, including her portraits and photographs documenting her work and the activities she carried out in the Palestinian Federation of Women's Action Committees (PFWAC). The collection also includes various documents, including periodic bulletins issued by the Palestinian Democratic Union-FIDA and PFWAC, meeting minutes, correspondence and reports.
