BIOGRAPHY

Rula Alami is an art consultant, collector, and co-curator with over two decades of experience in the regional art market with a particular focus on Arab Modern and Contemporary Art. Her curatorial work spans exhibitions in Amman, Beirut (Art in Iraq Today), Dubai (Art Palestine and Belonging), and Kuwait (Third Identity), alongside numerous online shows with Artscoops. In 2021–2022, she served as a member of Tate Modern’s MENA Art Acquisition Committee (MENAAC). She is the founder of Sila exhibition series, the first of which will be launched at Maraya Art Center Sharjah in September 2025. Alami is Vice President of the Inaash Association, serving on its board since 2002, and a board member of the United Lebanon Youth Project (ULYP) since 2018. She holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, and an Executive MBA from the American University of Beirut. In 2018, she earned a Certificate in Art Management from École Supérieure des Affaires (Beirut) and since 2016 has pursued online curatorial studies with the NODE Center in Berlin.

DESCRIPTION

This collection includes stamps issued during the periods of the Ottoman rule and the British Mandate in Palestine; maps of Palestine dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries; and several donation vouchers issued by the Upper Nile Valley Authority to Save Palestine affiliated with the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Kingdom of Egypt. It also includes a guide entitled “Flowers from the Holy Land”.

The collection further includes a mother-of-pearl icon, vases created by the Armenian Jerusalemite ceramic artist David Ohannessian, family letters exchanged between Gaza and Saida, as well as a small collection of old Tatreez thoubs from six areas of Palestine.
