Mikhael Toubasi was born in Yafa in 1893 and obtained a degree in oral and dental medicine from Damascus University in 1922. He was described by his grandson, Ghassan, as a community and national activist. He opened his own clinic in Yafa, specifically on Iskandar Awad Street. Almost a year after the onset of the 1948 Nakba, Toubasi opened a clinic in Ramallah, where he worked until his death in 1969, carrying with him the dream of a soon return to his hometown, Yafa.

Following the 1948 Nakba, the Zionists displaced Toubasi from his city, Yafa, where he worked as a dentist, after which he decided to take his medical tools with him to the city of Ramallah, thinking that he would return to Yafa and reopen his clinic there. After a year of displacement and expulsion, Toubasi commissioned some people from Yafa to salvage what they could from his home in the city, and the dental tools were part of what was salvageable. In Ramallah, the Toubasi opened a dental clinic and worked there until he died in 1969. Doctor Ghassan Toubasi inherited these tools after the passing of his grandfather, Mikhael, and kept them in a private locker at his clinic in Ramallah.
