Owned by Mahmoud Yaish, who was a partner in al-Jihad Newspaper, Asha'b Newspaper is a political daily newspaper published in the occupied city of Jerusalem. Its first issue was published in 1972. It adopted a clear national line in opposition to the Israeli Occupation, and fought many battles with the Israeli military censorship and military rule. It was subjected to various types of surveillance to push it to change its political line, as the Israeli Occupation Authorities raided its offices several times and burned them down, and in 1974, they forcibly deported its editor-in-chief, Ali al-Khatib, to the Lebanese borders. Asha'b is the third Arab newspaper that was published after the occupation of the West Bank in 1967.
