BIOGRAPHY

Born in 1966, Serene Huleileh is a Palestinian social and cultural activist who lives in Amman. She is a member of the al-Balad Theater Foundation, el-Funoun Palestinian Popular Dance Troupe, and Abna' al-Domou' Troupe, founded in 1979 by the female members of the el-Funoun Troupe, as they volunteered to train schoolgirls in several cities such as Ramallah, Jericho, and Jenin.

DESCRIPTION

The collection contains several photographs of the el-Funoun Palestinian Popular Dance Troupe and Abna' al-Domou' Troupe, including photographs of the Troupes during training, meetings, and performances in several Palestinian cities, universities, and schools, and during el-Funoun Troupe's participation in performances in the United States of America, Oman, Tunisia, and Iraq. The photographs show members of the Troupe singing and dancing in their own production, such as "Palestinian Joys" and "Mashaal Marj Bin Amer," in addition to dressing in traditional embroidered costumes. The collection also includes photographs of the Troupe's members at the Popular Art Center, such as Wassim al-Kurdi, Khaled Qatamesh, Serene Huleileh, members of the Sabreen Band and Walid Abdessalam in singing performances.
