BIOGRAPHY

Rasim Younes, a Palestinian athlete, was born in the village of Fureidis, located in the Haifa district. Younes studied in schools in Nablus and obtained several certificates in educational sciences and physical fitness from Egypt, the United States of America and Lebanon. He was a football and basketball player, joined the Balata Youth Club team and participated in the official Jordanian basketball team. He was also one of the founders of the Sports Clubs Association and worked as a teacher and sports coach at an-Najah National University in Nablus. He died in late October 2004.

DESCRIPTION

The Rasim Younes Collection contains several documents that shed light on his academic and professional life as a Palestinian athlete and educator, ranging from certificates of appreciation, education certificates, letters of condolence received by his family after his death, several newspaper clippings with news of his death or condolence letters, other clippings related to news of his participation in some sports activities inside and outside Palestine, and his publications in the field of sports. In a section of the collection, there are folders related to the Sports Clubs Association, which he founded with fellow Palestinian athletes, and which contributed to the protection and development of the sports life of Palestinians under the Israeli Occupation.
