BIOGRAPHY

The Four Homes of Mercy is a Palestinian charitable association that was established for taking care of the sick and the mobile-impaired in 1940. It was established by a group of Arab Orthodox women, led by Catherine Saksak and the Four Homes of Mercy was known for long periods as the (Madame Saksak) ٍShelter. This shelter was the first for the disabled, and its headquarters were moved between Beit Sahour, Dheisheh Palestinian Refugee Camp, Bethlehem, and Beit Jala, while its permanent headquarters was established in al-Eizariya on a plot of land granted to the Four Homes of Mercy for this purpose in 1961. The most important goals of the Four Homes of Mercy were relief for afflicted patients and providing shelter for the elderly, those with chronic diseases, and patients who were not accepted by hospitals.
