A Photo of the Moroccan Quarter of Jerusalem before Its Destruction
Found in Ibrahim al-Fanny's archive, this monochromatic photograph shows al-Aqsa Mosque and part of the Moroccan Quarter of Jerusalem and al-Fakhriyya Corner before they were destroyed by the Israeli Occupation; the Corner was called so because it was located near al-Fakriyaa Minaret which was named after the Sufi scholar Fakher ad-Din bin Muhammad. The photo also shows the remains of the excavations that led to the discovery of the three Umayyad palaces, and the yellow line drawn on the photo shows the plan the Israeli archaeologists drew to start the excavations.
