Abd ar-Rahman Bushnaq, Writer and Academic, Tulkarem
Abd ar-Rahman Bushnaq was born in 1913 in the city of Caesarea, Subdistrcit of Haifa. He enrolled in the American University of Beruit in 1930 to study Literature, then went on to study at the University of Cambridge in London from which he graduated as a Literature major in 1937. Bushnaq taught in the Arab College in Jerusalem and London Broadcast post the 1948 Palestinian Nakba. In 1962, Bushnaq was elected a member of the Royal Jordanian Committee for Education, which is the same committee that supervised the establishment of the University of Jordan.
