Muhammad Rifʿat Tuffaha, a Poet from Nablus
This paper clipping documents the name Muhammad Rifʿat Tuffaha, a Palestinian shaikh born in the city of Nablus in 1897, who visited Istanbul and met with Sultan Abd el-Hamid and became one of his biggest preachers in Nablus. He was arrested by the British and imprisoned in Egypt for 3 months. In 1928, he participated in the Islamic conference for protecting al-Aqsa Mosque and other Islamic holy places. Shaikh Rifʿat passed away in 1940.
