"Kaufakha", Adel Zawati, a Paper Clipping

Handwritten in Arabic, this paper clipping documents the name of "Kaufakha", a village southeast of Gaza connected with the Gaza-Beʾr as-Sabeʿ Road and a paved road connecting it to the village of al-Muharraqa. It is one of the northern Negev villages located in the cut-off area between the Negev and the Southern Coastal Plain, and people travel south to Beʾr as-Sabeʿ without passing any other village. Zionists occupied the village in 1948, displaced its people, destroyed the village, and then established the colony of "Nir 'Aqifa".
