"Khalsa", Adel Zawati, a Paper Clipping
Handwritten in Arabic, this paper clipping documents the name of "Khirbet Khalsa (Elusa during the Roman era)", a khirbet (helmet) twenty kilometres south of Beʾr as-Sabeʿ. Erected in the 3rd century BC as a stop on the al-'Utur Road, this khirbet peaked during the Roman era. Nowadays, it includes the remains of an amphitheatre, Greek inscriptions, a large Byzantines church, a walled tower, Byzantine dwellings and tombs, and Roman water projects.
