Ash-Shiraa Magazine, Issue No. 44, October 1982
Printed in al-Sharq al-Arabiya Press with Muhammad abu Labdeh as the managing editor and Siham al-Asaly as the senior editor, this 72-page document shows issue no. 44 of ash-Shiraa Magazine. Issued in October 1982 with its cover and fonts crafted by Palestinian artist Adnan az-Zubaydy, the issue features news pieces and articles themed on Palestinian and Arabs politics, local investigations, and literature as follows: 1. An article entitled "The Savage Massacre" detailing the Sabra and Shatila Massacres in Lebanon. 2. A collection of articles featuring the Reagan Plan for Peace in the Middle East in the 1980s and the alliances forged accordingly in the region and Reagan's link to the 1982 Fes Summit and the approval of the Arab-Israeli Peace Project and the Fahd and Burqiba initiatives. These articles are "Palestinians Will Straightforward Reject All Suspicious Projects, "Conducting a Foggy Alliance", and "The Political Initiative is a Necessary Extension to the Military Initiative" by ʿĀdel Samarah. 3. A collection of articles featuring an analysis of events following the Palestine Liberation Organization left from Lebanon, the attack on the Beqaa, and the assassination of Bashir aj-Jimayyel in 1982. These articles are "The Battle of the Beqaa is a Continuation of the Scheme", and "The Assassination of Bashir aj-Jimayyel Expresses the Rejection of the Current Developments in the Region". 4. A collection of articles touching on the Arab political situation as follows, "The Saudi Treachery Document", which reveals a leaked document entitled "The Committee's Recommendations on the Egyptian Aggressive Presence in Yemen". Issued on 16 December 1966, the document contains many recommendations, namely recommending the American-Israeli intervention in Yemen, having Saudi Aramco pay the expenses of the American-Israeli war, coordinating the 1967 June War, Saudi exchanges roles and interacts with Israel. Another article is found under the title "With the Friends of the Iraqi Communist Party". 5. A set of local investigations: the water situation in the West Bank, Israel's control of water sources, the UNRWA and its conspiratorial policy and cutting aid on refugees, the Bank of Palestine facing challenges, the first legal discussion (the discussion of the first legal research by Talal abu Afifa). 6. Literature section: a poem by Iraqi poet Muẓaffar an-Nawwab, and the Tears Cup story by Muhammad Qaraqiʿ. 7. Miscellaneous.
