A Photograph of Friends, Leningrad, 1981

Taken in 1981, this black-and-white photograph captures a group of friends in Leningrad. Seen in the photograph, right to left, half a girl's face, whose name (Nurma the daughter of Abu Salim) was inscribed on the back of the photograph, Khalid Batrawi, Husam Naṣer, and ʾAyman Gharaybeh. Seen behind them are political posters supporting the Omani Civil War, namely the "Dhofar Rebellion," and one of them reads "Freedom for political detainees in the prisons of Agent Qaboos".
