Taken in 2007, this colour photograph shows a freeze of the theatrical performance "Haffar al-Qubur [The Gravedigger]" by the Popular Theatre Troupe. Produced by Hazem Kamal ed-Din and Directed by Fathy Abder-Rahman, the play is based on a poem by Iraqi poet Bader Shaker as-Sayyab addressing the absurdity of wars through the character of the gravedigger played by actor Hussein Nakhleh.
