"The First Palestinian Intifada", an Article by Bassam ash-Shakaa, 1990-1999
Handwritten by Bassam al-Shakaa, this four-page article addresses the changes made by the First Intifada on the Palestinian cause. The Intifada, ash-Shakaa argues, ended the Israeli political control back when the Arab local-international political and militant circumstances were loyal to it. This happened particularly after the Israeli withdrawal from Beruit, the Regan initiative, the Amman Agreement, the proposals for enhancing living situations and the confederation project with Jordan. The Intifada imposed a public reality, as in a final response to the U.S. policy, and explained the contradiction between the political action in the international arena and the struggle on the grounds. With this in discussion, Ash-Shakaa touches on the nature of the international relationships at that time, particularly the Soviet Union.
