The two hundred and ninety-sixth issue of Attali'ah Newspaper which was published on November 3, 1983. Bashir al-Barghuthy is the issueʾs editor-in-chief, and it was printed in Salah ad-Din Press in al-Quds (Jerusalem). The 12-page issue covers the following: - The closure of Bethlehem University and many other schools. - The dialogue conference continues its work in Geneva: The Salvation Front insists on Israelʾs withdrawal. American and Arab attempts to sabotage the conference. - The Salvation Front lays down the basis of constitutional reform in Lebanon. - On the anniversary of the Balfour Declaration: A general strike in al-Quds (Jerusalem) and protests in other cities. - An American project for increased cooperation with Israel. The project includes Syria, Lebanon, and the West Bank. - The civil administration scales down the borders of the Hebron Municipality as Israeli settlements continue to expand at the heart of the city. - The peoples of Latin America stand in solidarity with Grenada. - The United Nations advocates for giving the Palestinian State a full seat. - The wide repercussions of the victory of the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality. Congratulatory letters of support pour from all over the Occupied Palestinian Territory. - The Palestinian Journalists' Syndicate calls for the unity of the Palestine Liberation Organisation and the strengthening of the alliance between the PLO and Syria. - The traders at the Damascus Gate Bus Station go to court in an effort to stop its demolition. - Enforcing a curfew on several refugee camps is the occupationʾs new method of persecuting the residents. - Israeli settlers destroy and set many cars on fire in Birzeit and Jalazone Refugee Camp. - The members of the Bethlehem Student Council are under arrest. The university is under siege as clashes between the students and Israeli soldiers break out. - News on the issues of workers and trade unions. - The Soviet Union takes concrete steps against the deployment of American missiles. - The 29th anniversary of the Algerian revolution.
