Attali'ah Newspaper, Issue 820, December 2 1993
The eight hundred and twentieth issue of Attali'ah Newspaper which was published on December 2, 1993. Bashir al-Barghuthy is the issueʾs editor-in-chief, and it was printed in Salah ad-Din Press in al-Quds (Jerusalem). The 12-page issue covers the following: - Dr Abdul-Shafi: Israel is responsible for escalating the situation. Palestinian prisoners should be released, and deportees should return. - Suspending the activities of the Fatah Hawks in exchange for ending the hunt for Fatah fugitives. - A widespread campaign in the upcoming weeks: The Yesha Council plans for the establishment of 130 new settlements in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and the Occupied Golan Heights. - During the interim period: The Jordanian dinar will still be the currency in circulation in the West Bank and Gaza Strip during the interim period. - The military command doubles the number of military units deployed in the Palestinian Occupied Territory. Ramallah and al-Bireh under curfew and the Gaza Strip announced as a closed military zone. - Tawfiq Zayyad: We must stop the schemes of the Yesha Council. - Conflicting news reports on the release of Palestinian prisoners: Dr al-Barghuthy: The issue has turned into a bargaining affair due to the absence of a reference for negotiation. - Ahmad Sa'adat recounts the pain he suffered along with his comrades in Israeli prisons and detention centres. - Palestinian women join international campaigns to combat violence against women. - Israeli settlers reaffirm their readiness to resort to civil disobedience. - Ya'akov Tzur: The implementation of the Declaration depends on the actions of the Palestinian Authority. - The house of Taha Hussein is turned into a museum named after him. - The proliferation of homeless journalism in Paris tells the story of the economic crisis plaguing the countries of the European Community. - A forgotten area in the Gaza Strip. Al-Fukhari: An area living a simple life with no interest in modern life. - A joint workshop organized by Palestinians and Israelis in search of real peace between the two peoples. - Al-Najjab: Our participation will be in vain. The resolutions and recommendations of previous meetings were met with dismissal.
