Attali'ah Newspaper, Issue 831, February 17 1994
The eight hundred and thirty-first issue of Attali'ah Newspaper which was published on February 17, 1994. Bashir al-Barghuthy is the issueʾs editor-in-chief, and it was printed in Salah ad-Din Press in al-Quds (Jerusalem). The 12-page issue covers the following: 1. A new Israeli law against Arabs to prevent 20 thousand Palestinians from staying in East Jerusalem. 2. Suleiman Najjab abstains from attending the meeting of the Executive Committee. 3. A new scheme to displace Arab al Jahalin from their lands to expand the settlement of Ma'ale Adumim and connect it to al-Quds (Jerusalem). 4. An article entitled “Officials in the Education and General Examination departments: There is still a chance to succeed in the second semester… Students go on strikes and hold sit-ins to protest the results”. 5. The Olive Centre and the Arab Thought Forum organize a symposium on the olive sector. 6. The Palestinian Centre for Peace and Equality and al-Jisr Centre in cooperation with the International Centre for Peace in the Middle East organize a symposium attended by Palestinian graduates from the Soviet Union and Russian immigrant Jews. 7. The residents of the Occupied Golan Heights commemorate the protests against the annexation resolution. 8. Public events to commemorate the twelfth anniversary of the re-establishment of the Palestinian Peopleʾs Party continue. 9. The screening of the play El Elm Noor and El Elmo Nooron on Jordanian TV channels. An article on comedy between political discourse and social critique. 10. A visual arts exhibition for the artist Shaker Abu Ghazaleh. 11. The representatives of Palestinian pharmaceutical factories assert their rejection of doubling the registration fee. 12. An article by Abdur-Rahman Awadallah entitled “The Palestinian-Israeli Declaration of Principles… Its Interactions, Results, and Prospects”. 13. Quoting the Political Committee of Hamas Detainees at Ashkelon Prison: Attaliʾah keeps improving but itʾs still a partisan newspaper that doesnʾt care about all sectors of Palestinian society. 14. An article by Tayseer Arouri entitled “Where will This Performance in the Peace Talks Lead to?” 15. The Palestinian Peopleʾs Party organizes a popular sit-in against Israeli settlement. 16. Israeli Occupation Police officers show off their achievements in suppressing the residents of the Occupied Palestinian People. 17. Several issues will be discussed at Taba Summit. 18. A strike in Gaza to mourn the death of two shuhadaʾ. 19. The pavement of settler roads in Beit Jala. 20. A Palestinian water expert states that Israelis review the issue of water from a strategic security point of view and that Israel refuses to withdraw to the borders of 1967 because it wants full control over water sources. 21. The Israeli Occupation Authorities refuse to allow a Palestinian deportee to return and attend his brotherʾs funeral.
