Attali'ah Newspaper, Issue No 840, April 21 1994
The eight hundred and fortieth issue of Attali'ah Newspaper which was published on April 21, 1994. Bashir al-Barghuthy is the issueʾs editor-in-chief, and it was printed in Salah ad-Din Press in al-Quds (Jerusalem). The 20-page issue covers the following: 1. One shaheed in Kalandia and the arrest campaign continues. 2. The security belt around al-Quds (Jerusalem) prevents cleaners from collecting garbage. 3. The residents of Hebron condemn the arrest campaign in the city. 4. Delegations representing Israeli peace organizations show solidarity with al-Wuhaidi family and congratulate Palestinian returnees. 5. The masses mourn the death of a renowned surgeon in Nablus. 6. Attaliʾah interviews several of the returnees: The moment of great joy is when all displaced Palestinians return home. 7. The Palestinian Peopleʾs Party and the Jericho Tribal Council agree on forming a national body to represent all sectors of the city. 8. A news report entitled “The Shaheedʾs Grandfather: Nahid was like a Friend and I Raised Him to Love the Homeland”. 9. A column by Jamil Salhout entitled “The Policy of Starvation will not Bring Stability”. 10. The residents of Shu'fat Refugee Camp complain about the Israel Electric Corporation ignoring their requests to lower the high voltage current. 11. A new poem by Izzeddin Manasra entitled “The Complaints of an Indian from Hebron in front of the Judas Tree”. 12. An article by al-Mutawakkil Taha entitled “Our Culture was Born out of Our Political Struggle… Relying on Foreign Funds was a Mistake”. 13. New releases (Afaq Magazine and a book entitled The Structure and Organisation of Palestinian Families). 14. An article entitled “The Rift between Palestinian Leadership and Its People”. 15. Dr Maher Charif writes on the 30th establishment anniversary of the Palestine Liberation Organisation. 16. An article on the issue of unemployed graduates and its causes. 17. Several problems facing Biddya leaving the village without services, electricity, nor water. 18. The village of Turmus Ayya is a prime example of Palestinians migrating and leaving the country due to the poor economic conditions. 19. A section on women and social issues. 20. A section on Palestinian women prisoners in Israeli prisons. 21. The security belt around the Gaza Strip cripples the economy and leads to disorder in the streets. 22. Israeli security measures disrupt life in Hebron and cause major losses to vegetable sellers near al-Haram al-Ibrahimi. 23. The Swedish Village in Gaza fights for its survival amid all the hardships and challenges. 24. An interview with Ibrahim Dakkak: “The Security Belt has Existed since the Beginnings of the Occupation to Isolate al-Quds (Jerusalem) and Prevent the Establishment of a Palestinian State”. 25. A rally held in solidarity with the students of Birzeit University.
