Attali'ah Newspaper, Issue 852, July 20 1994
The eight hundred and fifty-second issue of Attali'ah Newspaper which was published on July 20, 1994. Bashir al-Barghuthy is the issueʾs editor-in-chief, and it was printed in Salah ad-Din Press in al-Quds (Jerusalem). The 20-page issue covers the following: 1. Israeli settlers continue to seize lands to expand their settlements. 2. The residents of the Gaza Strip hope their issues will be resolved as Arafat returns to the Occupied Palestinian Territory. 3. A general strike in Nablus for the third day to protest the brutality of the Israeli occupation after bombing a house in the city. 4. Israel returns 17 Palestinians to Egypt and threatens to close crossings if the attempt is repeated. 5. Hundreds sign a memorandum demanding an end to Israeli encroachment on water. 6. The Nazareth Municipality publishes a notice regarding the illegal publishing of the late Tawifq Ziadʾs legacy. 7. Palestinians are still reeling from the loss of the militant activist Tawfiq Ziad. 8. Salim Zanoun writes about the considerations preventing the National Council from holding a session soon. 9. The Gaza–Jericho Agreement leaves Far'a Refugee Camp in limbo according to its residents. 10. Two officials from the Palestine Economic Council for Development and Reconstruction (PECDAR): “We should not let economic issues be in the hands of one man only”. 11. Attaliʾah interviews the secretary of the Nablus Chamber of Industry and Commerce: “Infrastructure will be the foundation of an independent and strong economy as authorities give industrial permits but hinder other procedures”. 18. Backlash in Jericho against the decision of the Palestinian Authority to collect old taxes that were due under the Israeli civil administration. 19. Public outrage after the assassination of hajj Muhammad Ali Abu at-Tin and the Palestinian Peopleʾs Party condemns the killing. 20. A eulogy of the late militant activist Tawfiq Ziad. 21. Al-Haq Organisation continues its activities and workshops to uplift Palestinian women. 22. The Head of the Agriculture Department in the Gaza Strip claimed that the conditions of fishermen have improved while Palestinian fishermen deny these claims. 23. The Association of Palestinian-Israeli Doctors: 170 Lebanese prisoners in Israeli prisons and 400 in Khiam Detention Centre. 24. The residents of Tel Rumeida warn against settlers moving trucks near the residentsʾ homes as they prepare to expand their settlements. 25. The 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Palestinian Medical Relief Committees. 26. Saleh Abd al-Jawad, Director of Birzeit Universityʾs Research Centre, writes an article on “Any political solution that doesnʾt seek to right the historical wrongs against Palestinian people bears the seeds of its own failure”. 27. An official from the Palestinian Ministry of Tourism asserts that the success of the tourism sector in Palestine depends on joint Israeli efforts.
