Attali'ah Newspaper, Issue 854, August 3 1994
The eight hundred and fifty-fourth issue of Attali'ah Newspaper which was published on August 3, 1994. Bashir al-Barghuthy is the issueʾs editor-in-chief, and it was printed in Salah ad-Din Press in al-Quds (Jerusalem). The 20-page issue covers the following: 1. The emergency dock in Gaza will act as a port. 2. Attacks on Palestinian residents continue. In the latest episode, the assailants placed the head of a Palestinian man on a stone and peed on him. 3. A huge memorial festival to commemorate the death of the late Tawfiq Ziad. 4. Yusef at-Turabi writes “In the Memory of Muin Bseiso: The Palestinian Pelican”. 5. Adel al-Asta writes that culture will have no presence if we didnʾt prioritize it over political action. 6. Parting words on the late Tawfiq Ziad. 7. Sawaleef Troupe for Arts and Theatre organises a popular festival in the public street between Nuseirat Refugee Camp and Maghazi Refugee Camp in Gaza. 8. Rashad Abu Shawar protests the screening of the film Naji al-Ali. 9. The settlement of Kedumim continues to encroach on the lands of Kafr Qaddum. Land levelling and infrastructure works continue. 10. Attaliʾah interviews the Public Prosecutor in Nablus who states: “95% of robberies are charged against anonymous assailants. Unemployment, lack of authority, and the release of thousands of militant activists from prison are among the key reasons”. 11. Israeli authorities demolish barracks in Kafr ad-Dik. 12. The Palestinian Engineersʾ Association announces its political position in the elections. 13. The militant activist Rabiha Ishtayya is released from Israeli prisons. 14. Al-Haq Organisation holds two workshops in Beit Sahour and Nablus. 15. The residents of Illar pay heavy taxes to the Israeli Occupation Authorities. 16. The Agricultural Relief Committees pave a road in al-Lahham area in Gaza. 17. Several villages in the Ramallah area live without water for weeks. 18. A rally in solidarity with the shuhadaʾ of the Erez Crossing massacre at the Yarmouk stadium in Gaza. 19. Abdur-Rahman Awadallah, a member of the Central Council of the Palestinian Peopleʾs Party, who recently returned to the Occupied Palestinian Territory explained that Israeli authorities deliberately try to humiliate Palestinians crossing the border crossings. 20. Dozens of houses in the village of Tura ash-Sharqiya near Jenin are under the threat of demolition under the pretext of lacking building permits.
