St. John's School Students and Teachers, Haifa, 1956

Taken in 1956 in Haifa, this photograph shows the teachers and students; including Naela Nakkara, of St. John's Secondary School. The teaching staff includes Wajeh Awad, Poet Issam Abbasi, Naji Farah from Shefa-'Amr, Suha Farah, Rousite Affarah, and principal Theodora Thareefi. It said that the school was closed following the 1948 Nakba and was then reopened after Hanna Nakkarah contacted priest Farah. It is worth mentioning that the school closed its doors during the Nakba in 1948, however, it was opened again after Hanna Nakkara communicated with priest Farah informing him in regard to the necessity of the continuity of the educational process.
