Tawfik Toubi in Haifa, the 1960s

Taken in the 1960s, this photograph shows Tawfik Toubi distributing al-Ittihad Newspaper, as its lead editor in the streets of Haifa. Toubi, a Knesset member of the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality and of the Communist Party following his affiliation in 1948, founded, with others, the National Liberation League in Palestine which opposed the United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine at the beginning.
