The Events of the 7th Military – Based Court Session on the Case of the Coup Against the King of Jordan, 3 August 1957
Printed in Arabic, this archival item documents the event of the 7th session of a military-based court on the case of a coup held against the king of Jordan on Sunday, 3 August 1957 which was held at the Military Airport of Amman in the memberships of the Colonel Abed al-Karim al-Barghouti and Colonel Ahmad Basslan, while the secretary duties were done by Taher Ashihabi, Salah Abu Zaid and Adnan Biyoun; whereas the Defense Services Committee consisted of attorneys Anwar Nusseibeh, Fuad Abed el-Hadi, Hasan Habib Hawa and Aziz Shihadeh. The session was inaugurated by the Chairman and Colonel “Aukash Azzain” who requested the presence of the representative of the general prosecution to present the witness; whereas the member of the committee, Colonel Muhammad Assadi and as the representative of the general prosecution he invited the main witness while Anwar Nusseibeh apologized for being 15 minutes late due to being in Jerusalem, the witness presented the second lieutenant “Sitan Muhajjam” and then came the Minster of Agriculture, Development and Urbanization “Akif al-Fayiz”, who is the second witness, the questions included introductory questions and an inquiry on their relationship and to what extend do they know the ones charged in this case including “Maen Abu Nowar” in addition to their relationship with the troubled militants. Some interventions and objections were made by the Defense Services against the questions addressed to them, later, the session concluded, nevertheless, it is to be continued at 5:00 pm, and the name “Adnan Biyoun” was featured in the footer of the paper as the notetaker.
