The Proceedings of the 14th Session of a Court Martial on the Coup Attempt Against the King of Jordan, 6 August 1957

Printed in Arabic, this archival item documents the proceedings of the 14th session of the Court Martial on the coup attempt against the King of Jordan which was held on Tuesday, 6 August 1957 at the King Abdullah II Air Base, in the presence of Colonel “Abed el-Karim al-Barghouti” and Colonel “Ahmad Baslan” along with “Taher Ashihabi”, “Salah Abu Zaid” and “Adnan Biyoun”, together, they did the secretary related work.  The Defense Committee included the following attorneys; Anwar Nusseibeh, Fuad Abd el-Hadi, Hasan Habib Hawwa and Azziz Shihadeh; whereas the session was inaugurated by the Chief Colonel Major “Aukash Azzain” who requested from the Representative of the Prosecution General "Muhammad Assadi" to present the witness; Chief “Hani Shaʿshaʿhah” in order to be asked about his name, number and age in addition to what extent does he know the suspects and if there is any relationship between them, on his behalf, he confirmed knowing the defendant “Ali Abu Nuwwar” afterwards, he was questioned about the orders he received from “Shawkat Sabbol” on the captivation of some people on 11 April 1957 including “Midhat Jumah” and “Saad Jumah” because Sabbol is convinced that they are causing confusions in the country and obstruct the work of the ministry, therefor their arrest was an order by the leadership and he carried on with his testimony on the delivery of weapons.
