A Letter From Abed el-Latif Kanafani to Anwar Nusseibeh, 30 May 1961

Printed in Arabic, this archival item documents a letter addressed by Abed el-Latif Kanafani from the Council of Establishment in Kuwait to Anwar Nusseibeh on 30 May 1961; whereas he refers to Nusseibeh’s previously sent letter on 1 November 1960 and refers to the passport in particular; where he found a Palestinian-based passport issued during his academic life and to when he was forcibly displaced from Palestine, hoping that it would fulfil the requested purpose, he also stresses on the importance of this passport for him and his family because he is in a desperate need of it, thinking that Nusseibeh would appreciate this importance, while the rest of the information about his wife and children, he can take from the copy of the Kuwaiti passport in which he sent before, referring to the possibility of issuing a passport for himself, wife, and children; as they often travel solo.  In this letter, he also requests to bring back the passport which was described as “antique” if the Documentation Department in Jordan isn’t in need of It, adding, he will afford all expenses and is ready to conduct any service Nusseibeh wishes in Kuwait.
