Issue 8655 of ad-Defa Newspaper, 17 July 1964

In its issue number 8655 dated 17 July 1964, ad-Defa Newspaper is a daily, political, news and illustrated newspaper founded in 1934 by Ibrahim Shanti in Jaffa, Sami Surouji from Hama and Khayr al-Din al-Zirikli from Beirut, while Shanti had the privilege and the title of editor-in-chief until 1949, as the privilege moved to his brother, Sadeq Shanti, and the newspaper was being issued in Jerusalem, while the manager was Nadim Elmeddin. Its front page included that al-Hussein, King of Jordan, hosted Field Marshal Abdel-Hakim Amer during a visit to the city of Jerusalem and some outposts where the Jordanian army is stationed.
