Issue 22703 of al-Ahram Newspaper, 16 October 1948

Issue 22703 of al-Ahram newspaper, issued on 16 October 1948, an Egyptian newspaper founded by Selim and Beshara Takla in 1875, while the heirs of Gabriel Takla are the franchisees, and a copy of this issue is donated to the Egyptian army. Its front page included that the Political Committee of the General Assembly began debating the report drawn up by Folke Bernadotte and work on it was completed by Ralph Bunche, the temporary mediator in Palestine after Bernadotte's death. The main recommendations of the report were as follows: 1. Recognition of the State of Israel. 2. Giving the Najaf region to the Arabs and the Western Galilee region to the Jews. 3. Putting Jerusalem under international supervision.
