Dated 15 February 1994, this is an issue of al-Mahd Newspaper, which is a social, cultural, artistic, sports and political newspaper, issued weekly by al-Mahid Press Office in Bethlehem, with Ibrahim Melhem as its editor-in-chief, which he launched after the closing of al-Shaab and al-Fajr newspapers, its general director was Zahran abu Qbeiteh, while Mohammad al-Lahham was the managing editor and the editing committee included Naser al-Lahham and Kamal Hammash. Its first page included news that Abu Ammar performs the Eid prayer at al-Aqsa Mosque, in light of talk that autonomy in Jericho and Gaza is imminent within two weeks after finalizing most points of contention between the Palestinian and Israeli delegations, and preparations are also underway to release thousands of detainees on the second day of the Eid, and on its third page, the newspaper wrote a story about the teachers’ refusal to stop their protests and their demands to improve their living conditions through their sit-in in front of the education offices in Bethlehem, their demands came to double the salary by 100%, double the price premium, amend the retirement salary, return what was deducted from teachers’ salaries during the school closure period, and give teachers their full rights to social and health insurance and professional and annual bonuses.
