The First Part of the Book "The Landmarks of History", the 1920s

The first part of the book "The Landmarks of History: From the Earliest Times to the Dawn of Islam", which was translated freely to suit students in Arab schools, and is written by K.S.S Hayam, translated by Khalil Sakakini, Wasfi Anabtawi and Ahmad Khalifa. The book was published by Longmans, Green & Co. Ltd. in London. The book includes 112 pages divided into 18 chapters, each of which deals with a specific historical era starting from the hunting stage of the first human being and then moving to agriculture and then living in the city, and then building the pyramids and the cities of Iraq built on the banks of the two rivers, navigation, and the life of the inhabitants of the plain areas. The eighth chapter, titled "The Biography of Gautama", dealt with the discussion of Buddha and the Buddhist, while the ninth chapter dealt with the biography and thought of Confucius as one of the first teachers in mankind, and then moved on to talk about the Persian Empire in the tenth chapter and the Greco-Persian wars in the eleventh chapter. In the twelfth chapter, the author talks about the influence of Greece on human thought, while the thirteenth chapter talks about Alexander the thirteenth and his history, and in the fourteenth chapter, which was titled “The City That Became an Empire,” he talked about the emergence of Rome, and in the fifteenth chapter he talked about Palestine, while the sixteenth chapter is devoted to talking about Roman security, and the seventeenth chapter is about the brutal raids of tribes, while the eighteenth and final chapter bears the title of “Islam” in which it talks about the emergence of Islam.
