"The Evolution of the Status of Women from the Marxist Viewpoint" a Lecture by Nimr Murqus
Titled "The Evolution of the Status of Women from the Marxist Viewpoint", this lecture is by Nimr Murqus, which came within a series of lectures he gave for the youth of the Communist Party, his friends and others. He began this lecture by speaking of the development of the women's situation according to society, Marxist adoption of reality and the achievements of science, his studies for the situation of women and its development through the development of mankind based on previous research to teach what it will become in the future, especially women's productive development, all of which was through the studies made by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels regarding the developments that affected the situation of women through the development of mankind society since communalism or communism, slavery, feudalism, capitalism or bourgeois, her total equality with man in the primal communalism stage, the differences occurring to women's sexual lives including marriage, relationships and others, women's situation in the Arab Islamic history during the Abbasid Empire, the Khurramites movement and revolution, their tries to achieve their goals including equality with men, and Isma'ilism and its goal of equality and movements which branched from it such as Qarmatians. After reviewing these historic events of the status of women, he mentions Marxism thoughts on women through discussing the first document of Marxist "Communist" thought of Karl Marx titled "The Communist Manifesto" and issued in 1848, the role of communists in entering the 8th of March "Women's Day" in the public calendar, to end his lecture in the modern communist experience and its effect on the status and situation of women, especially productivity.
