Issue 5 of al-Jadeed Magazine, May 1991
Issued by the Cooperative al-Ittihad Press in Haifa, issue no. 5 in May 1991 of the al-Jadeed magazine, which is a monthly magazine of intellect and modern national culture established in 1951, its first editor was Hanna Naqqara and its editor-in-chief was Antoine Shalhat. This issue included: 1. The introductory text by the magazine’s editor-in-chief, Mohammad Ali Taha. 2. An article titled “On the 24th Anniversary of the June War” by Ahmad Asaad. 3. A poem titled “Dam al-Qassam” (The Blood of al-Qassam) By Mohammad Ali as-Saleh. 4. A study titled “Izz ad-Din al-Qassam, the First Spark” by Iskandar Amal. 5. An obituary by Saleem Khouri. 6. A story titled “The Return of Umm Adel” by Saleem Khouri. 7. A poem titled “Qabl Kharab al-Basra” (Before the Ruin of Basrah) by Nayef Saleem. 8. The issue seminar titled “The Story (My Village) by Abdel-Hakim Qasem” by Farouq Mwasi. 9. Poetic and prose excerpts titled “Traffic Lights” by Subhi Shahrouri. 10. An interview with the artist Abed Abdi by Sameeh Sabbagh. 11. Poems by Ali as-Sah. 12. An article titled “Arab Marxists and Taha Hussein” by Abderrazeq Eid. 13. Burdened minds by Ayda Nasrallah. 14. A file titled “Abdel-Wahab Left this Earth, but the Nile and the Gondola Remain” and it included several articles titled “(Dantella) Talks Between Abdel-Wahab and Mahmoud Amin al-Alem” by Ahmad Ismail, “The Music of Abdel-Wahab: Evaluation and Analysis” and “The Last Battles of Abdel-Wahab was Extremism”. 15. Chosen text titled “Anecdotes”. 16. Varies cultural news made by the al-Jadeed magazine editing committee.
