Issues 7 and 8 of al-Jadeed Magazine, August 1989

The seventh and eighth issues of the al-Jadeed magazine, a monthly magazine for progressive national thought and culture established in 1951, issued in August 1989, under the supervision of its first editor Hanna Naqara and its chief editor Ibrahim Malik. It was printed at the Union Cooperative Press in Haifa, and a painting by the Palestinian artist Mohammed al-Rukooei was printed on the cover. The issue included the following: 1.    The talk of the month titled “Children Signing Scare Them” by the editor Ibrahim Malik.  2.    Poetry titled “Masat an-Narjes Wa Malhat al-Fedda” (The Tragedy of Narcissus and the Comedy of Silver) by Mahmoud Darwish.  3.    A study titled “Education and Upbringing is the Cornerstone” by Majed al-Hajj. 4.    A critical article titled “Zaki Darwish in His Novel (Ahmad Mahmoud and Others), Resistance Far from Screaming” by Nabih al-Qasem.  5.    A critical article titled “The American Poet Dickson Between Confinement and Reality” by Sameera ad-Deek. 6.    A critical article titled “The Future Poet Moshe Barzilai and the Stones of Intifada” by Mefleh Tabouni. 7.    A study in the short story titled “Corresponding Consciousness Corresponding Discourse” by Abderrazeq Eid.  8.    An article titled “The Society Between the Personality of the Writer and the Personality of the Reader" by Anwar Hamed.  9.    An article titled "A Hundred Years of Anthology of Arab Poets Who Lived and Written in America" by Henry Zgheib.  10.     The last episode of the series "On Palestinian Art" by Nader Khatib. 11.     An article titled "Nights of Exile Between Yousef Abdennour and Mohammad Bakri in Canada" by Ahmad Hasian. 12.     A critical article titled "The Manifestation of Exile in the Poems of Saadi Yousef" by Muhammad Hayyan as-Samman. 13.    A critical article titled "A Travel in Mahmoud Darwish's Poem (The Tragedy of Narcissus and the Comedy of Silver)" by Aqel al-Awet. 14.    A story titled "Ibrahim Hussein Wrestling a Bull" by Zaki Darwish. 15.    A story titled "Curfew" by Jamal Bannoura. 16.    A story titled "The King Said to his Minister: A Country Without Writers" by Zakaria Nasser. 17.    A story titled "Dia" by Walid Ayoub. 18.    A story titled "From the Tales of the Palestinian Boy" by Ali al-Khalili. 19.    A poem titled "As-haro Allah” (In-laws of Allah) by Nizar Qabbani. 20.    A poem titled "Mokashafeh Wadaeyyeh Fi As-Settin” (An Exposed Farewell in the Sixties) by Shawqi Baghdadi. 21.    A poem titled "Fatehat Ad-Dam Wal Quronful” (The Opening of Blood and Clove) by Abdennasser Saleh. 22.    A poem titled "Thalathat Qasaed” (Three Poems) by Waseem l-Kurdi. 23.    A poem titled "Waqt Lelmarathi Wa Tanaqodat at-Tajdeef Fil Aghwar” (A Time for Lamentations and Contradictions of Blasphemy in the Jordan Valley) by Mohammad Hamzeh Ghanayem. 24.    A poem entitled "Farashat al-Haya” (Butterflies of Life) by Abdullah Issa. 25.    A poem titled "Leqa Fi Montasaf al-Layl” (Meeting in the Middle of the Night) by Farouq Mwasi. 26.    News about new books and publications in the world and the Arab world. 27.    News about the memorial ceremony for the poet Issam al-Abbasi. 28.    Publication of the decisions of the Third Arab Education Conference.
