Issue 12 of al-Jadeed Magazine, December 1987
The twelfth issue of the al-Jadeed Magazine, a monthly magazine for progressive national thought and culture, was founded in 1951 and printed in the Union Cooperative Press in Haifa, issued in December 1987 under the supervision of its first editor, Hanna Naqqara, and its editor-in-chief, Salem Jubran. The issue included the following: 1. The talk of the month titled “A Storm Changes the World and the Assignments of Culture” by the magazine editorial board. 2. A study titled “The Beginnings of the Arabic Theatre” by Riad Mazleit. 3. A study titled “Vladimir Mayakovsky, a Poet in a Revolution… and a Revolution in a Poet” by Ayman abu ash-Shaar. 4. A legal study titled “The Legal Situation of the People of Occupied Jerusalem” by Usama Halabi. 5. An article titled “The Memoirs of an Ex-Smoker” by Gabriel García Márquez. 6. Five Palestinian poems by Ibrahim Nasrallah. 7. A story titled “Raji, the King of Marble” by Suheil Kiwan. 8. A story titled “Deliverance from Error” by Nabil Odeh. 9. A story titled “Is there Any Consolation” by Mamdouh Safadi. 10. A critical article on the novel “The Town’s Tavern” by Salman an-Natour written by Habib Bolous. 11. A review of a novel by Munif Hourani “Insomnia on the Decisive Night” by Sameer Hajj. 12. Varied cultural news.
