Issues 5 and 6 of al-Jadeed Magazine, May and June 1983
The fifth and sixth issues of the al-Jadeed magazine, a monthly magazine for progressive national thought and culture established in 1951, were issued in May and June of 1983 under the supervision of its first editor Hanna Naqqara and its editor-in-chief Emile Touma and printed at the Union Cooperative Press in Haifa. The two issues included the following: 1. Al-Jadeed opinion is titled "Confronting the Fascist Advance". 2. A series of episodes on the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), and the first episode is titled "The Palestinian National Liberation Movement in the Days of the Nakba" by Emile Touma. 3. An article titled "On European Supplements in the Hebrew Newspapers" by Salman Natour. 4. Conversation with the artist Eichi Mambush in Ein Hod by Rafik Halabi. 5. Announcing Mahmoud Darwish's winning of the Lenin Peace Prize. 6. A story titled "The Investigation" by Jamal Bannoura. 7. A story titled "The Fakahani Balcony" by Liana Badr. 8. An interview with Wedad Kawar and a talk about a group of Palestinian dresses. 9. An article titled "A Quick Overview of Latin American Literature" by Riad Baidas. 10. A collection of poems from Latin America by several poets, including the poem "The Copper" by Pablo Neruda and other poems from Cuba. 11. Various cultural news.
