Issues 1 and 2 of al-Jadeed Magazine, January and February 1983

The first and second issues of the al-Jadeed magazine, a monthly magazine for progressive national thought and culture established in 1951, were issued in January and February of 1983 under the supervision of its first editor Hanna Naqqara and its editor-in-chief Emile Touma and printed at the Union Cooperative Press in Haifa. The two issues included the following: 1. Al-Jadeed opinion titled “The Palestinian Memory Cannot Be Assassinated." 2. A study titled "Where has the Arab National Liberation Movement Reached Today?" by Emile Touma. 3. An article titled "Because Rivers Do Not Die" by Radwa Ashour. 4. An article titled "The Arabs in the Israeli Army Magazine" by Anton Shalhat. 5. The last chapter of the novel "Tales in the Dust of Battle" by Salman Natour. 6. A short story titled "The Night of the Curlews" by Gabriel García Márquez, translated by Riad Baidas. 7. A story titled "Love Project" by Hanna Ibrahim. 8. A story titled "The Little Wife" by the American writer William March. 9. Interview with Ghali Shukri. 10. Interview with Yasser Arafat. 11. A story titled "History and Image" by Nagi Farah. 12. Poetry titled "Resalet Aed” (The Letter of Who Returned) by Melhem Khatib. 13. News about cinema and theatre. 14. An interview with the Palestinian director, Francois abu Salem, conducted by Ziad Fahoum. 15. An article about the movie "Fifty" 16. Munther Amer's poetry titled "Salwa Salwa". 17. News about the latest books.
