Issue 1 and 2 of al-Jadeed Magazine, January and February 1980

The first and second issues of the al-Jadeed magazine, a monthly magazine for progressive national thought and culture established in 1951, were issued in January and February 1980 under the supervision of its first editor, Hanna Naqqara. It was printed at the Union Cooperative Press in Haifa, with a painting titled “The Wound is Greater than the Earth” printed on the cover by the Iraqi artist Laith Fattah. The issues included the following: 1.    Al-Jadeed opinion is titled “The Struggle of the Egyptian Culture”. 2.    An article titled “Gorky, Books and Struggle” by Fayez al-Faqeeh. 3.    A story titled “Full Stop” by Naji Thaher. 4.    A story from Georgia titled “A Lake in the Field”.  5.    An article on the poetry collection “The Exile of a Green Bird” by Radi Shehadeh.  6.    A story titled “Silhouette” by Farouq Munib.  7.    A poem titled “Basrah Haifa” by Khaled Ali Mustafa.  8.    An article titled “About the Letter of Adonis: Arabian Heritage between Following and Creating” by Abdullah Abd-Adaem. 9.    The corner “Cultural Tourism” by Antoine Shalhat.  10.    A poem titled “Oheboki Hatta Taseerena Ommi” (I Love till You Are My Mother) by Hussein Faour.  11.    An article titled “The Why’s and Endless Writings” by Mohammad az-Zayed.
