Issues 1 and 2 of al-Jadeed Magazine, January and February 1975
The first and second issues of the al-Jadeed magazine, a monthly magazine for progressive national thought and culture established in 1951, were issued in January and February 1975 under the supervision of its first editor Hanna Naqqara and its editor-in-chief Antoine Shalhat and printed in the Union Cooperative Press in Haifa. The two issues included the following: 1. Al-Jadeed opinion titled "Be the Apostles of Your People!" 2. A poem titled "Maqta Men Sereyyeh Thaleth Oxid al-Karbon” (A Section from the Secret of Carbon Dioxide) by Samih al-Qasim. 3. An article titled "Teaching History from Zionism" by Emile Touma. 4. A study titled "Karl Marx and Alienation" by Sami Muhammad. 5. A play titled "Hasan and the Bey" by Essam Mahfouz. 6. A poem about death and love by Abdel-Latif Akel. 7. A poem titled "Qasaed Men Korasat Dam” (Poems from the Book of Blood) by Muhammad Hamza Ghanyem. 8. A critical article titled "The Sea of Light" by Nabih al-Qasim. 9. Zajal, titled "The Beauty of the Castle" by Saud al-Asadi. 10. A story titled "The Sixth Day of Creation" by Ahmad ash-Sheikh. 11. A story titled "My Good Friend" by Tanya Abdurahmanov. 12. An anthology of poetry by Rasul Gamzatov. 13. An article on Arabic inscriptions by Issam al-Abbasi. 14. A story titled "The Executioners Fall Under the Cross" by Ishaq Dawood. 15. The al-Jadeed Club Corner. 16. A sculpture titled "A Mother and Her Child" by Hanna Mismar.
