Issues 7 and 8 of al-Jadeed Magazine, July and August 1962
The seventh and eighth issues of the al-Jadeed magazine, a monthly magazine for progressive national thought and culture established in 1951, were issued in July and August under the supervision of its first editor Hanna Naqqara and printed in the Union Cooperative Press in Haifa. The issues included the following: 1. The talk of the month by the magazine's editorial board. 2. An article titled "Has the Nakba Literature Risen to the Level of Events?" by Emile Touma. 3. A poem titled "As-Sawt Wal-Khotwah” (The Voice and the Step) by Mahmoud Darwish. 4. Essay "Shakespeare" by Jizo Iscarai. 5. "The Return", a poem by Pablo Neruda. 6. "Has Sartre Abandoned Existentialism", published interview with Jean-Paul Sartre. 7. "Lelhob Wal-Jou” (For Love and Hunger), a poem by Samih al-Qasim. 8. A story titled "No, Mother" by Mohammad Khas. 9. Essay "What is Poetry" by Eugene Vinokurov. 10. A story titled "Re-routing the Bride" by Yousef Idris. 11. An article titled "Notes on Modern Poetry" by Salim Jabran. 12. Meet Greystone Plotkin. 13. An article titled "Shedding Light on the Egyptian Theatre". 14. "The Play of This Destiny", a critical article by Ibn Khaldun (a pseudonym). 15. "Readers' Mail" corner. 16. The full text of the letter of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
