Issue 8 of al-Jadeed Magazine, June 1955
The eighth issue of the al-Jadeed magazine, a monthly magazine for progressive national thought and culture established in 1951, was issued in June 1955 under the supervision of its first editor Hanna Naqqara and printed in the Union Cooperative Press in Haifa. The issue included the following: 1. The talk of the month titled “Towards the Light” by Emile Habibi. 2. An article titled "Qarmatians" by Emile Touma and Ibrahim Khayat. 3. A poem titled “Kaffi Wa Kaffok" (My Hand and Yours) by Muhammad Salih. 4. A poem titled "The Road Will Not Be Long" by Abu Hanna. 5. An article titled "China and the Arab World" by Meng Cha-Ching. 6. A poem titled "Bayti al-Qadeem" (My Old Home) by Ibn al-Qarya. 7. A Lebanese story titled "The Washing Machine" by Samira Azzam. 8. Soviet story "Surprise" by Dmitriy Grenko. 9. "Pancakes", a Soviet story by Yekaterina Daizanova. 10. An article on International Children's Day. 11. An article titled "Literary Activity in the Arab Countries" by Ibn Khaldun, "a pseudonym". 12. An article titled "Who Soars Above the Illusions of the Hungry and Naked". 13. Literary, scientific and cultural news.
